Released by the U.K.'s Expansion label in 2004, Love Is to Listen: A Retrospective is one of several flawed Stephanie Mills anthologies, but this one goes beyond a couple key omissions. In this case, the compilers seemingly opted to include just about every song Mills recorded with "love" in the title. Ten of the 16 tracks have the word in the title, which means that crucial tracks like "Put Your Body in It," "Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel)," "Sweet Sensation," "Two Hearts," and "The Medicine Song" were squeezed out. Undeniable Mills successes like "Never Knew Love Like This Before," "(You're Puttin') A Rush on Me," and "I Feel Good All Over" are contained, but there's too much missing to recommend the disc. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
